I Must Have (Local) Flowers - Always, Always
Hello Flower Friends
The countdown is on and with only 8 days to go before Spring officially arrives we have been busy planning and sowing at Sweet Earth -- sowing ideas and seeds!
At Sweet Earth we are always working on ways to sustainably grow more beautiful flowers and share them with more people. We offer fresh, seasonal blooms and floral design services for weddings, parties and events. We also offer weekly bouquets to our local community via our Flower CSA (Community Supported Agriculture).
Read on to learn about what's new and exciting this year at
Sweet Earth and how to become a Flower CSA member.
Last fall we planted many spring bulbs and ephemerals that will be available for our Spring CSA members. New varieties of tulips (over 2000 bulbs planted), alliums, and daffodils (selected for their amazing scent) were planted. We are growing more sweet peas, because I just can't seem to have enough. We also added fritillari bulbs and spring blooming perennials such as white bleeding heart, and let's not forget the peonies.
We have lots of new varieties in the queue as well for our Summer CSA members. Our bouquets will be full of color and texture. Many of the varieties dry well making for everlasting bouquets.
Let's talk dahlias. We will be growing more than 65 varieties of dahlias this year, from beautiful blush and whites to vibrant colors; large dinner plates dahlias and cute ball dahlias (I'm excited about one called Tiny Treasure). Dahlia share members will not be disappointed. My love of dahlias is bordering on an obsession.
Excited to announce that we have added mums this year. We are trying out about a dozen varieties which are expected to be harvested in the fall.
Our shares are priced the same as last year and members will continue to receive 20% off our on-farm workshops. We have some great workshops lined up. Check out our on-farm workshops below.
New this year, all members will receive a vase at the start of the season.
Members will have the option to pick up their bouquets at Sweet Earth Farm on Friday or Saturday (choose one), or new this year, bouquets can be picked up at Kahlo Collective the new eco-chic shop in Scotts Corners, Pound Ridge.
Spring shares begin in May, so now is the time to sign up. Summer and Dahlia shares are also available. Sign up for all three and save!
